The GFC 1200
Triple F Racing has acknowledged that the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) is crippling its efforts of securing a naming-rights sponsor and has now opened the floor to its fans.
Fed up with being turned away from companies that could not provide sponsorship because of the financial crisis, Triple F Racing has created its own GFC – the Go Fiore Club.
The GFC 1200 is the team’s war on the credit crunch. It costs $1200 to become a member and it includes two tickets to one of the remaining 2009 V8 Supercar events, plus a space on the #12 Paul Morris Motorsport prepared Commodore.
Triple F Racing driver Dean Fiore said the side skirts will be reserved for GFC 1200 members, but if there is enough interest, there will eventually be a ribbon of sponsorship running around the car.
Fiore, who owns the team with his brothers Paul and Todd, said five members had already joined but there were still plenty of spots left.
“I wanted something to bubble away while I’m looking for a naming-rights sponsor and this will help the team along with the small stuff,” he said.
“It will also give fans of Triple F Racing the chance to keep up with news about the team on race weekends because we will be sending out SMS updates of our progress, plus members will also get an official Triple F Racing cap.”
Triple F Racing made its debut at Winton Motor Raceway in May after the Fiore brothers bought the Team Kiwi Racing V8 licence.
A local Darwin business got involved with the team at Hidden Valley Raceway last month in a one-off sponsorship deal and Fiore is hoping to have a one-off sponsor come on board for the Dunlop Townsville 400, which takes place next weekend.
Fiore has managed to stick to his goal of learning the circuits used in the V8 Supercar Championship and keeping the car straight.
“We had a small issue with the engine in Darwin, but the boys have been working pretty hard on that since so that the car is ready for Townsville,” he said.
“Paul Morris Motorsport has just been amazing in what they have done for us; they have really taken me under their wing.
“They have knocked down a wall in their workshop to make sure my car is next to (Supercheap Auto Racing drivers Russell Ingall and Tim Slade) so it makes you really feel a part of the team.”
